Kundan Lal Gujral is one of them. He put the Indian Cuisine on the worlds culinary map.
The India –Pakistan partition forced great chefs to move to India . This led to the emergence of a newculinary chapter . One such man was Kundan Lal Gujral, who started Moti Mahal in 1920 in Peshawar . The pesawari phenomenon set up his second eatery in Daryaganj in 1947, following the partition and soon acquired world wide patronage and became an Institution .

Moti Mahal’s guest lists consists of great people Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru , Indira Gandhi ,former president Zakir Husain , the shah of Iran , Kennedeys and ex – USSR premier Nikita Khurshev , amongst others . Khurshev was so impressed by the Indian Tandoori food served at Moti Mahal that he invited Kundan to set up Moti Mahal in Moscow at a trade fair for a month in 1960’s .
